5 Change Makers Success Myths Busted – Have you fallen into any of these boxes?

If you're anything like...well, most people (smile), you might just have a role model. We all have role models. Most people do, anyway. You probably follow and are inspired by role models to this day – it's not just something that happens when you're a kid.

Now, there several different kinds of role models. Some of them exist in real life. Like, maybe, your parents or your siblings or school teachers or even a childhood friend. Some of them live only on the cinema screen...or they are real people you have never met. These people seem to have it all – they have everything going for them – and you admire them for that.

But then there's another kind of role model. It can be a somewhat blurry picture in our head...the collection of things we have told ourselves we HAVE to have to be successful.

Well, I've worked on the #NoMoreBoxes Methodology and lifestyle for some time now – supporting people and urging them on to follow their heart and find that their X-factor is...right in front of their tits, and to be aware of the drivers that are consistently driving us into boxes.

And, in so doing, I've discovered that a whole lot of people are STUCK IN A BOX believing that they won't succeed unless they have this or that.

As a result, we tend to turn a blind eye towards what we have RIGHT NOW – we often don't see the enormous opportunity we have at the moment because we're always trying to latch on to the belief that we need something else to succeed.

So here I've compiled a neat-o little list of 5 “success myths” that many people believe in. See if any of these resonate with you – it's essential to know what your beliefs might be.

(1) You have to have an MBA or some other master's degree to succeed in business.

Wrong! I don't mean to put down formal education or degrees. The knowledge gained from college or a graduate degree can be put to excellent use. But the belief that you HAVE to have a degree or two to have a successful business is dead-wrong. Don't let this belief hold you back or discourage you.

It’s a box! Having an MBA, or another degree is often driven by the desire for safety or higher status.

(2) You must have experience working in the corporate world first...before forging your own business.

NOPE NOPE NOPE. You don't HAVE to have corporate experience. You don't. You see, your experience as a business owner can come from sooo very many different places and sources. And the corporate world isn't some kind of magical gateway to earning the kind of experience you need to start a successful business.

It’s another box! Falling into this box can often be driven by history (you’ve seen other people go that road or someone in your family took that road).

(3) Only artists are allowed to follow their heart.

Wrong! Actually, on the contrary, the world is SCREAMING for businesses and business owners that are shining brightly with passion and authenticity...people in the industry that are following their heart. You can do that in ANY field you desire.

Another box! - This one could be driven by safety and perhaps your family history.

(4) No one in your family has done it before, so you can't either.

Ugh. “Hello?” 21st century calling the Middle Ages.” But sincerely, do you honestly believe that if everyone in your family has always been steadily employed by someone else, that it runs in the family? That you can't leap courage and start on your own? Get over yourself – it will, of course, be a bit harder to gather the courage and fortitude to start your own business. That's because you don't have any role models in your family who have created their businesses. But still – think of the role model you will be for OTHERS (maybe even your children!).

(5) You can't run a successful business today unless you know...accounting, marketing, selling, budget planning, internet marketing, social media marketing, blah blah blah.

No, no, no! This is a myth. Now, it would be helpful to have some idea about what each thing is. But you don't have to be an expert in EVERYTHING to run a business successfully. Instead, identify the areas in which you are healthy and have a solid knowledge-base. Then hone in on those skills until you become a MASTER of your craft. And if you have an idea for a business and can't wait to get started on it, give it a go!

It is yet another box to tackle! This time it is driven by your perception or desire to learn and obtain.

Take the time to build a network of contacts – find the talent, knowledge, and expertise your business needs. Have fun building your dream team – it's all a part of the process, after all, and truly enjoyable.

People will always give you excuses as to why they didn't pursue their vision for a business. “Oh man, I didn't have the kind of degree that's needed.” Or, “Well, no one else in my family had done it before, and there's probably a good reason for that.” Or, “Well, I didn't have the corporate experience that's needed.” And on and on and on. Don't let these kinds of excuses or “myths” hold you back. Chase your dream – breathe into it and watch it glow into life.

It all comes down to playing your strengths – and using the real, authentic forces that so often we don't see as valuable. Follow your heart!

Living outside of your boxes is a journey and a new form of lifestyle. We call it #NoMoreBoxes Lifestyle. A lifestyle that allows you to become more of who you were born to be, less of who you’ve been conditioned to be.
