What are you accepting today, but will not accept 20 years from now? #MeToo
My out-of-the-box audio message for today!
What are we socially accepting today, but will be questioning in 20 years from now?
We are all so socially conditioned to be, behave, act and react by our genders, religion, sexuality, race, background etc.
In my world it looks a little bit like this:
Once it was socially acceptable to sexually abuse another person if you had the status to do so.
Once domestic violence was socially accepted - it was considered to be a private matter.
Once it was socially accepted that men would get higher wages than women because they were the breadwinners.
Once it was socially accepted that women should stay at home and take full care of the home family and the children.
Once it was socially acceptable to say homosexuality was abnormal and could be cured.
These and many more socially accepted boxes have been opened up in the past decades in the world that I live in (I’m aware these boxes are still locked and the key seems to be lost in many cultures still today, May 2021).
When we believe things are socially accepted and we don’t, therefore, do anything about it - we don’t say anything about it - it just keeps being there! - Nothing changes.
What are we accepting today in our society, that we will not even admit that we accepted in 20 years from now?
